The appearance of the jawline can impart either a masculine look, if it’s prominent and square, or a feminine look, when it is gently defined yet. The aesthetic of anyone’s jawline is a combination of the masseter muscle (on the side of the cheek, used for biting/chewing) & the jawbone (mandible). A bulky, conspicuous masseter muscle can also lead to painful jaw spasms (bruxism), migraines & teeth-grinding. Because the masseter is a muscle, it can be treated with neuromodulator injections to reduce it’s volume and size over time. This reduction in size & volume translates beautifully to a slimmer face & a gentler, softer jawline. And because the neuromodulator injections also weaken the masseter, the painful jaw spasms and teeth-grinding also resolve over time.
Dr. Djan’s technique of neuromodulator injection therapy is seamless and painless. The jawline softening effect is noticeable at 2 weeks and continues to mould into a thinner, more desirable jawline over the next 4 weeks. The injections typically last 3-4 months, but generally, the aesthetic effect lasts beyond this & injections are required annually.
